Your rape of the fair country. Once again there are plans to destroy a local place of beauty, that is to fill in the Tirpentwys Canyon. Their reason is jobs. I have been informed this will be no more than 12. Once they have stripped all that is profitable, what then? Another country side. If anyone enjoys beauty I suggest you try and take a look at the canyon. It is difficult too get to, but it is worth the effort. Instead of allowing this plan to go ahead, why not develop the area for Tourism. Torfaen B.C.C. should encourage this industry, and not sit back and think because Blaenavon is a World Heritage Site, that tourists will just come. They need more. The Valleys are blessed with beauty and history. Big Pit does attract tourists, but most, after their visit, get back in their cars or coaches, and sail off into the sunset. Let's put a stop to this. Let's increase jobs in the tourist industry. Let us encourage the tourists to spend their money in the area. So the question is , do we back a project that will create a few jobs for a short time, but destroy the country side , forever, or do we say NO and encourage the council to invest in the one future we all can be proud of.
