MR John Gale draws attention to the irresponsible use of ‘phobic’ terms by politicians, newspaper columnists and others. When I hear statements such as ‘society is now much more tolerant of ...’ I wonder whether what society thinks is not actually known, because society is not saying anything for the reasons given by Mr Gale. As he mentions the Bible, might I make a suggestion?
Those who ridicule Genesis also fail to detect the sublime truths contained in it. The first words spoken by Adam after the fall are, “I was afraid.” Human society is thus dominated by the fear factor. When Jesus invited folk to bring themselves again within the orbit of God’s love, his main motif was “Fear not.”
