ON BEHALF of Jessica Powell, Brian Mawby and myself, Stuart Ashley, I would like to express our thanks and delight in being voted in as Labour councillors for Pontnewydd, Cwmbran, on May 3. We now have five years on Torfaen County Borough Council in which to serve all our ward constituents and deal with their local concerns. We have a ward surgery at Mount Pleasant Hall, Pontnewydd, on the first Saturday of each month at 10.30am.
Special mention must be made of Nye James who stood down as a councillor at this election. Nye served Torfaen and in particular the community of Pontnewydd for many years, as a Cwmbran community councillor, Torfaen county borough councillor and mayor. And Nye would like to thank the people of Pontnewydd and Northville for their continuing support over the last 13 years.
The other members of the Pontnewydd Labour Team who were elected on the same night are our Cwmbran community councillors: Margaret Howell and Jessica Powell – Lowlands and Avondale: John Winter Northville: and Stuart Ashley – Mount Pleasant.
