On the topic of the dual use of Rodney Parade, this not the first time that this situation has arisen. I have in my possession a NALGO Newsletter dated December 1944 and in the Items of local interest page within the Newport rugby section, it reads, ‘the club has recently been in negotiations with Newport County Football Club directors regarding the use of the athletic ground for both codes, but a final decision has been made that no further action be taken’. Sixty-eight years. It shows what perseverance can do!
