Superstore competition could be good for Caerleon

I LIVED in Caerleon for a number of years and have just read the article and comments concerning the coming of a small Sainsburys in the Angel Hotel.

So, Yin Loo, owner of the Spar shop on Station Road has objections and in Our Say, you refer to the arrival of a big player as an unfair competitor to independent traders.

So, just what category is the Spar group in, if not a big player? They sell everything at inflated prices that independent traders are trying to sell and have more branches throughout theUKthan Sainsbury’s, Tesco et al put together! I remember that we didn’t hear all these protests when Spar opened in Caerleon many years ago.

Yes, there will be competition fromthis small Sainsbury’s store, but that could be good for Caerleon residents.
