I ALWAYS enjoy the letters in “Your Say” and read with interest the regular contributors such as Mr A Nutt and Mr M West; however tonight’s Your Say (August 13) has caused consternation in my home, and probably many other homes in the former Islwyn Borough.

Mr Nutt has the nerve to infer that Bargoed has had a poor deal in council spending! Could I remind him that the former Rhymney Valley Council was all but broke when Rhymney and Islwyn were joined under the banner of Caerphilly County!

Since that fateful date, the towns of the former Rhymney Valley have had by far the biggest slice of cake. True, your councillors deserve praise for their involvement in directing funds into their area and away from Islwyn, particularly the lower Sirhowy Valley. Maybe this praise of Rhymney valley councillors should be turned around and the wrath of the residents of villages and towns such as Abercarn, Cwmcarn, Crumlin, Newbridge, Crosskeys, Trinant, Risca and Pontywaun be voiced to their councillors;, who have obviously not been as active as their counterparts from Bargoed, New Tredegar, Bedwas, Penallta and Ystrad Mynach.

Come off it Mr Nutt, accept your beloved home town has had most of the council’s budget spent on your town and surrounding towns, and that in the future you will undoubtedly succeed in attracting most of the available funds from the vociferous work of your councillors.
