Medal tally is key for Wales

IN the 2010 Commonwealth Games, Welsh athletes won 19 medals – three gold, six silver and ten bronze. I will judge the success of this year’s Olympic Games by how many medals Wales win in the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Logically one should compare like with like in order to judge success or failure. Therefore contrasting Great Britain's medal haul in the 2012 Olympics with previous Olympics shows it to be an unqualified success. Other teams' successes or failures in other competitions has absolutely no bearing on this.

If Wales had their own team for the Olympics then we could measure Welsh success. Wales might not have the same athleles for Rio. but in two years time Wales will have a full team.

That wasn't the point. Mr Nutt wanted to judge the success of this year's Olympics. Contrasting the results to previous Olympics is the only true way to judge success. With more medals in 2012, it was a success. It has nothing to do with the Commonwealth Games. Of course, judging by Mr Nutt's previous nationalist letters there was clearly some other agenda here, but we can only respond to what is published.

So if Wales don't have a Welsh athele in the GB team for Rio then that is a failure. The commonwealth games and the medal table will be a yard stick by any extra funding has been spent in Wales. we can't judge Mr Nutt on previous letters. Success is judge by how many medals are won in whatever comp. Its about loss of funding that london OG took from Wales.

In Wales there are dragon waving Welsh nationalist (Plaid Cymru) and union flag waving British nationalist (Labour, Tories, Lib Dems, UKIP & BNP). The British parties all have branches in Wales but we all know their money, their policies are English/British linked. To keep London and the south of England happy.

London is determined to bury Welsh Scottish and Irish identity in some pathetic attempt to make us all Saxon/Brits. (I.E. English) ! How can Wales have a medal when they are not allowed to represent their country openly ?

Millions of pounds spent on the poor area of London from grass root sports clubs in Wales. The Commonwealth games will see how many young Welsh stars come through to win medals. Short term look first and then look to the next few years in Rio. You can't judge every four years as athletes lose form or get hurt.
