I REFER to your article about the unfairness caused by political funding of Police and Crime Commissioners’ election campaigns (August 16).
Ian Johnston has been unequivocal in stating that he is funding his own campaign. I think he is right to do so; as an independent candidate he is there to serve the people of Gwent, not a political party or any one section of the electorate.
I am not sure that the same can be said for campaigns that are financed by political parties?
