Don't forget children and the abuse scandal of Roman Catholic priests

Philip Paciello says there was a time, a happy time when children could play in the street, go wherever they wanted and have the greatest of fun. Unless, of course, they became victims of the worldwide scandal of abuse by Roman Catholic priests. What greater abuse of trust could there be? But of course, Mr Paciello is one of those people who see only what they want to see and believe only what they want to believe.

Don't just pick on the catholic priests epecially when only yesterday the Archbishop of Canterbury apologised for the years of abuse by protestant clergy. Typical comments by individuals that spark religeous hatred as the troubles in N. Ireland and elsewhere!!

I don't think the deaf community wants much to do with the Catholics, or the massive cover-ups supported by their Pontiff..... 1500 deaf children are reported to have been abused.

Oh I see its "its lets pick on the catholics" time. Remember this, there is not one religion that hasn't had depraved individuals in their midst and the protestants are equal in that with the catholics and also covered things up on an equal basis to the catholics. Bringing in the catholic faith into the subject of the original letter for which I don't have one iota of support for is just religous racism on the same par as any other racism. Hope you feel proud of yourselves. Me, I'm out for a pint tonight with my proddy friends, the good proddy's that is!

If you look at news articles over the last 20 or 30 years, time and time again child abuse and subsequent cover-ups have been laid at the door of the Roman Catholic church. There probably is abuse in non-Catholic churches but it certainly does not seem to be on the same scale. The Catholic church in Ireland is loosing parishioners by their thousands, largely due to the exposure of deep rooted pedophilia within their clergy and the church's deliberate attempts to silence the victims. So sorry Papa, it's not time to pick on Catholics - all abuse is deplorable - it's just the Roman Catholic church has much more to answer for than others.

I beg to differ, the catholics did and do have a problem that is has now been recognised for sometime and steps have been taken to sort the problem out which the protestants have refused until now to recognise their own problems until yesterday and have covered up their their own pedophiles on a par with the catholics. Yet again we have protestants acting as the holier than thou brigade.

Certainly don't think Protestants are acting in a holier than thou fashion. All churches have their problems with rogue, non-Christian elements but there is no doubt when it comes to child abuse the RC church have a lot to be ashamed of. These people should be jailed no matter which denomination they come from - instead churches bury their heads in the sand and move the culprits to other parishes hoping the problem will go away and this in turn ruins other young lives!
Don't understand why you tried to turn this into a Roman Catholic vs Protestant debate!

Not picking on Catholics, deaf campaigners 'pick' on ANY religion that hides clerical abuses of their children. They are completely democratic in holding he view abuse of children is repugnant,and more so when done under the guise of 'help'. 200 deaf children were abused 300 yards away from the Vatican gates.

Well I turned this into RC Vs Protestant debate? I suggest that you read the letter that this debate is about and go back to the letter that the bigot Jessie Boyd wrote about!
The original letter by Paceilo and there has been more than one at no time mention Roman Catholics and singling out the RC's is religious racism, racism of any sort I am against and racism that is the root cause of the troubles in N. Ireland which has caused thousands of deaths over the decades and thats coming from an atheist!
