AFTER a very short time, Newport Council has produced a new list of potential Gipsy sites (Argus, September 7). This is excellent progress, but I note that, as predicted, most are in non-Labour areas. This topic has raised many comments over the months and I am sure this latest product will attract the same. I have also read on the Argus website that both Monmouthshire and Caerphilly councils are not providing sites as a problem there is not perceived.
I am amazed by this, especially as Monmouthshire, I would have thought, would be very attractive for Gipsies. I am wondering what the approach is to the dilemma in these adjoining councils.
