FURTHER to my letter of September 5 regarding Newport’s riverside locomotive, I have received additional information. I understand that most of the removable parts of the engine (footplate fittings, side rods and external copper pipes) were placed into storage at BSC Llanwern prior to its display on the riverfront. Is there anyone in the locality who may have worked at Llanwern who has any recollections of these parts? Could they still be at Llanwern?
