Making it hard to sell city
3:19pm Wednesday 26th September 2012 in Letters
I AM a Chartered Surveyor living in the Langstone area. Over the years, I have been involved with a wide variety of industrial and commercial property projects that have been established in and around the city.
A key element for inward investors is the availability of high quality residential areas to suit their key management and executives. Inward investment is a highly competitive business and the city competes with many attractive alternative locations. I have recently completed a multi-million pound deal with substantial employment benefits that will go public in the next few months. The company’s key people have visited, but they are not aware that travellers sites are shortlisted for the Langstone area. Newport, in my view, is not overly blessed with appropriate residential areas and proposals for non conforming uses, travellers sites and the like in Langstone and in other similar areas is only going to make the job of ‘selling’ Newport City even more difficult.

Your quite right Mr Tuck. the council needs to encourage people to move here and they aint going to live in your Bettws, Ringland. Alawy areas. New people coming here from bristol will want to live in posh tory areas.
