I HAVE received a letter from Royal Mail, 20 Turner Road, Glasgow, Scotland, greeting me with “Annwyl Gwsmer”, followed by four paragraphs all in Welsh except for the last line telling me in English to turn over for an English translation.
Could this be a further case for more postage stamp charges or is this a Welsh/ Scottish Governments’ plot against non-Welsh speaking Welsh Citizens? Wales is the poorest country in Great Britain with some families needing food parcels and yet the politicians spend more and more on the ancient Welsh language, confusing road signs and translating documents, correspondence and adverts. Obviously, the Welsh language, culture, music and sport can be encouraged, but not made compulsory when more important help is needed by many struggling families in our country who cannot afford the price of a postage stamp!
