I REALISE MTV are just trying to get the viewers in to make money and good luck to the contestants, but I wish MTV would cut the patronising cliches.
As someone who has moved into the valleys, I know that people here are friendly, welcoming, resourceful and community-minded. Maybe MTV could reflect that or the values that made the valleys the birthplace of the NHS rather than just stereotyping a whole area negatively.
Or maybe they’d like to give our young people a more positive message than telling them they have to leave to get anywhere in life. The Valleys are Here have asked the makers of the programme to donate five per cent of their profits to charities in the valleys.
If MTV cared about our area, they’d do just that.
