Bus firm lets the city down

I WAS visiting Newport bus station after getting off the bus from Cwmbran and I sat waiting for the number 16 bus.

When I stood up, my coat was covered in bird business.

I phoned Newport Council , speaking to Andrew Scott, and received a written reply in August. He told me to get it cleaned.

I got it cleaned and sent him the receipt for cleaning. Afterwards another letter was received returning my receipt.

I believed that they would compensate me for the cleaning. Mr Scott told me that the bus station is cleaned by jet wash every day, but this is difficult to believe.

I think it should be done as it lets Newport down to visitors.

It’s not the cost, it’s the principle.

It seems that most of Newport needs a good clean, but the council likes to waste money on big projects whilst everything else falls into disrepair.
What a waste all that work has been at Mariners Green just more places for the drunks to sprawl out.

The bus station looks like an area in a run down third world. THe whole town is dilapidated , dirty and run down/It is little wonder mosdt people steer clear of the dumpthat is the bus station and city centre

Don't worry though one of our Councilor clowns or Newport Unlimited Clowns will be telling us the redevelopment is on track and everything will be wonderfull when it is finished

Mind you the same clowns were saying it would all be finished fot the Ryder Cup and that the Ryder Cup would trasnform the fortunes of Newport.. Anyone that beliefs anything these fools utter needs their heads examined.

Given the poor conditionm of he bus station with luck it will fall down

I cannot comment for everyone else here but perhaps you should look where you are about to sit. Although the council may be letting the place slide I'm sure most people can negotiate the stands without getting bird**** on them.

Next time you have an awayday trip from Cwmbran to Newport may I suggest that rather than visit the bus station you take a walk via the Old Green underpass to see the castle. Then you can delight in the pungent smell of urine and vomit along with plenty of bird business.
