Taxi passengers beware
5:03pm Wednesday 17th October 2012 in Letters
RETURNING from vacation on October 5, I left the coach and hired a taxi from the rank at Newport bus station.
I arrived at home at Bryngwyn Road. After the taxi had gone, I noticed that I was missing a small black bag. In it were some gifts and an expensive camera. I went to the taxi rank on the following Monday and was amazed that this taxi outfit has no office, no phone number and no lost property office. I was told to try and find the driver in a rank of over 30. After a futile hour and a half, I gave up. Passengers, be warned. When you use these taxis, you are on your own. I think the council should look into this. Use the taxis in the book.

I'm sure the town council couldn't give a monkey's but as long as the many taxi drivers pay their licence money etc to ply their trade all is well and none of their business. You are quite right that this should not be allowed to take place though but when has the council actually looked after the tax payers that give them their jobs??
