We don't need another chief

I SEE that supporters of one of the independents standing for the position of Police and Crime Commissioner want to keep politics out of policing. So do I, but surely the last thing we want is a senior retired police officer running the police. What we need is a person like Hamish Sandison, the Labour candidate, who will make the Chief Constable accountable.

The last thing we want is another Chief Constable! Bryn Hollywell, Pandy Road, Bedwas

If Mr Holywell is serious about keeping politics out of this farcical election for police and crime commissioner, then he shouldn't advocate a Labour placeman as "the best" candidate.

We can say right now, before the election has even taken place, what the outcome will be. It will be the same as it is for most elections in Wales. Labour!
After all the Labour conference was recently told: "Theresa May thinks the Tories are the party of law and order. Well, we've got news for them. We are!"
Both sides of the same authoritarian coin.

I think the labour party feel threatened by Ian Johnson. Dont forget Hamish Sanderson was defeated at the last general election. He has already been rejected once how many more goes does he want?

I saw all four candidates on the tv over the weekend. here are my thoughts.

Nick Webb

No experience. Little substance to what he says. he will just follow the party line.

Hamish Sanderson.

Arrogant and rude. Just wants to use the police as a stick to beat the gov. What is the point of voting for him. I was going to now i have changed my mind after watching his performance.

Chris Wright

He was a Sgt i believe. he will not have the ability to work at this high level.

Ian Johnson

Best man for the job. Expereinced and principled. he seems to know what he is talking abot. I will vote for him

All the mainstream party candidates are told what to say by the chief whip of their own party. Only an Independent Candidate can truely speak out for what they believe in, not follow a party line. Why not google how many independent councillors there are in wales the number is growing and growing each year. People are fed up of the same old story, same old lies.

The trouble is that having seen the calibre of the independent candidiates at the last council elections i can only conclude that Mr Ryan and Mrs Buchanon -Smith were absolutely crackers. Would you really want them running the council
