ELVIS was a surprise visitor at the latest fund-raising event in Abergavenny for the HAT appeal.

The appeal was set up by the family of Adeline Bevan, who was left fighting for her life when she was hit by a vehicle in Memphis, Tennessee, last September.

Adeline and her husband Gary were at the start of a dream holiday in which they planned to visit Elvis Presley’s Gracelands home when the accident happened.

Because of the expert care she received at the local hospital the couple decided to raise money for the trauma unit, and for Nevill Hall Hospital, Abergavenny, where her treatment has continued.

So far they have raised more than £3,500 and last week another £300 was collected at the race night at the rugby club, which included £100 bet on the last race by customers at the couple’s Premier Stores in Mardy.

Elvis, aka Keith Davies of Abergavenny Electrics, turned up at the race night to publicise the main fund-raiser, a Hawaiian Night at the Angel Hotel, Abergavenny, on Friday, September 26.

He will recreate The King’s Aloha concert in Hawaii which was watched by millions in 93 countries via satellite television, and raised $43million dollars for charity.

Gary and Adeline will greet those attending the night with a tropical punch and four Hawaiian girls will hand out flower garlands to everyone. So far 100 tickets at £29 each, have been sold.

Anyone wanting tickets can contact Gary at Premier Stores or the supermarket in Park Crescent.
