SUPPORTERS of worthy causes are still busily raising money, although the charity they helped has closed, writes Don Chambers.
Members of the former town lodge of Moose International, a worldwide group set up 120 years ago, are continuing with their fund-raising in a bid to add to the £100,000 they have collected over 30 years.
Moose is a group of people who believe in a caring, sharing family society and who enjoy working towards that goal with like-minded friends. It has taken the name of the North American moose, an animal that protects its young and old.
Before the Abergavenny branch closed in 2007, members raised cash with charity concerts, shows, raffles, cycle fun rides and a skittle alley.
The latest event to raise funds was a coffee morning at Peter and Brenda Bush's home, which attracted a large crowd of supporters.
