Listening to what residents have to say is the key to neighbourhood policing, says an Abergavenny beat bobby.
PC Andy North told a meeting at the Plas Derwen public house neighbourhood patrols were introduced to give communities a closer contact with the police.
He told members of Ysbyty Fields Neighbourhood Watch: βIn neighbourhood teams we listen to what is happening in the council wards in and around Abergavenny.β
In addition, meetings of PACT (Partnership and Community Together) are held in the town, when members are invited to vote on issues that need to be tackled.
The next meeting at the Salvation Army hall in Victoria Street, is on October 14.
PC North, who was accompanied by PC Tracy Bowen-Quirk, said surgeries to raise problems and get advice are held from 11am to 2pm every Wednesday at the town hall.
