Pirates and parrots were the order of the day for an end of term treat for children in the infant department at Ysgol Y Ffin, Sudbrook.
The pirate fun day was the culmination of a fortnight’s work on the topic and was enjoyed by the children and staff alike.
During the run-up to the big day the children had talked about pirates and what they did. They made a pirate boat from old boxes and spent time making ‘jewels’ for the treasure chest, as well as swords, hats and eye-patches to complete their costumes. They also made and studied maps - giving their creations the ‘aged’ look by using tea to stain the paper.
On Pirate Day the children and staff came to school in colourful pirate costumes. There was a treasure hunt with cryptic clues to solve, pirate games to play and a walk along the plank for anyone who got a bit too mischievous!
