This year’s ‘Time Will Tell’ was another resounding success for Usk Panto Players during its 3 night run at Usk Memorial Hall, with many in the audience proclaiming it t he best in the Players’ 14 year history.

The story, written by Julie McGowan, has a local flavour, with Girl Guide Honey Guider (Rosie Huxley) being sent to Switzerland to find the secret of perpetual motion in order to save the Usk Town clock. She finds herself in the clock-making factory of William Tell, (Peter McGowan) who is now too old to fire his crossbow straight, or to remember where the secret is. With the help of Ben (Ioan Phillips) and his goatherds, and some rather strange Gnomes of Zurich, Rosie finds the secret and helps to save the factory from the clutches of the Burgermeister (Philip Huxley) and his Swiss Guards.

Director Peter McGowan said, ‘Every member of the cast, from the youngest six -year-olds, to the eldest, gave a thoroughly professional performance. It was enhanced by the beautiful costumes from Amy Barber, the stunning set from Mike Barber, Ruth Wyatt’s accompaniment, Cath McGowan’s choreography and the light and sound effects from Frank Evans and Colin Osborn.’ He went on, ‘All the actors were stars, but special mention must be made of Rosie Huxley’s beautiful singing, Kathryn Clarke’s amazing yodelling, Scott Hazledine’s ‘Heidi’, which brought the house down, and the very welcome, hilarious return of Allan Wilkinson as the Cuckoo.’
