For the past six weeks Llanvihangel Crucorney primary School has been running a Breakfast Club. The innovation has proved to be a very popular one with an average of twenty pupils attending each morning. The children enjoy a healthy' start to the day with a choice of cereals, toast, yoghurts, fruit and juices. The club starts at 8.15 each morning in the school hall and is staffed by Mrs. Matthews, Mrs. Eaton and Mrs. Jones. The children all take it in turns to take the register and help out with setting up and packing away. There is a range of healthy eating' games for the children to play, including feeding a very hungry, and noisy, gorilla! For the children involved the Club provides a lovely, relaxed start to the school day as they are able to sit, eat and chat with their friends. The Breakfast Club initiative is funded by the Welsh Assembly Government and is open to all school aged children. Headteacher Kathryn Evans is delighted with the success of the Club which owes much to the efforts of the staff concerned.
