While I was away on holiday a summer bus service, number B17, called the "Offa's Dyke Flyer", was started and it will run on Sundays and Bank Holidays until Sunday September 28. It runs round a circular route from Hay-on-Wye, over Gospel Pass then down the valley to Llanthony and Llanvihangel Crucorney. It then runs along to Pandy, and back to Hay via Oldcastle, Longtown and Craswall. The bus will stop anywhere along the route, which makes it easy to combine a bus trip with a walk out or walk back home. It sounds like an excellent service for those who want to explore this most beautiful part of the border country Adult fare is £4 or child £2.50, or All Day tickets (covering all Beacons Bus services) are adult £7/child £4.50. Family tickets are also available. Travel on this service is free to anyone holding a concessionary travel pass issued by a Welsh Local Authority, or a Herefordshire pass. Summer timetables for the Offa's Dyke Flyer and all Beacons Bus services can be obtained from:http://www.breconbeacons.org/content/visit-us/transport/beacons-bus-1 You can also get paper copies from the Llanvihangel Crucorney Skirrid Mountain Garage shop or from Abergavenny Tourist Information Centre next to the Abergavenny bus station.
