Llanthony Show: Don’t forget to visit this year’s Llanthony Show at Court Farm Llanthony next Saturday August 2. The Show will be on all day with the competing horses and ponies to be on the field by 9am and a very wide range of competitions throughout the day together with demonstrations and stalls. The Show is one of the only shows of its kind still completely organized by local volunteers and its popularity is based on local support on a strictly non-commercial basis.

The Show was originally founded in 1961 following a critical BBC documentary about the Llanthony Valley in 1959 called “The Dying Valley”. Local people banded together at the first Show Committee to prove that the Llanthony Valley was anything but dying! Its continuing success over the last four decades has proved how wrong that original judgement was. If you need more details of Saturday’s Show they can be obtained from the Show Secretary Mrs Jayne Hart (Tel01873/890252).

Modern Dancing Class: The dancing class which meets at Cwmyoy Village Hall is proving to be a popular one. Next Saturday they will be appearing at the Llanthony Valley Show and other appearances are in the pipeline The children who attend are aged between 6 and 14. The class is held on Tuesdays at 6pm and there is no charge. If you would like to enrol your child or find out more please telephone Sharon on 07973680590.
