National Garden Scheme: On Sunday August 31 from 10:30 - 5:00 Sue and Ian Mabberley (Nant y Bedd) and Lord and Lady Crickhowell (Pont Esgob Mill) will be opening their gardens in Forest Coal Pit for the National Garden Scheme. Directions can be found in the yellow book and on the National Garden Scheme web page. Also the garden open signs will be up to direct visitors.
Longtown Show: If you enjoyed the sunny day at the Llanthony Show and Sports you may well be interested in another local show which happens next Saturday 16th August. It is the Longtown and District Show just over the border from Pandy and in another very beautiful area. It is at Llanwonog Farm by kind permission of the Gwillim family. The horse and pony classes begin at 9.30am and there is a dog show and livestock show (sheep). There are also competitions for flowers, vegetables, produce and handicrafts. Sports for children begin at 1.30pm.
