Stormy times: In common with many other villages, Pandy has been hit by the prolonged spell of bad weather.

Last weekend the streams in the hills to the East of the village combined with surface water to encroach upon some properties in the village causing damage. Among the properties affected were several houses, the village hall, school, chapel and caravan park. A combination of local efforts and the emergency services helped to reduce the damage.

The caravan park is situated alongside the River Honddu, but it was the water off the hills which proved to be the real danger. The site was evacuated in order to check the electrics and essential services but hoped to re-open over last weekend.

The cancellation of events like the annual Ploughing Match was not unexpected but the volume of water was unprecedented. We all hope that the worst is now over.
