Ploughing Match: Many were disappointed that the weather forced the cancellation of the 126th Ploughing Match, which should have been held on September 6.
However, ploughing enthusiasts will be very pleased to hear that the Committee of the Ploughing Society has decided to go ahead with a smaller event on Saturday, October 18, from 9.30am to 3pm. This will only involve ploughing competitions, as it was felt that the Hereford and Worcester area vintage qualifying classes should still be held. Mr R Watkins has kindly permitted the Society to use the original venue at Cefn Farm, Old Monmouth Road, Abergavenny. Let’s hope that the sun shines for this long-standing and popular event.
