As well as preparing the town's beds and baskets ready for this year's Wales in Bloom competition, the members of Usk in Bloom have been planting trees in the town.
The Wales in Bloom competition is no longer just about pretty baskets and bedding plants, but is keen for towns to look at sustainability, the impact on the community and the environment generally and every town has to work hard to meet these criteria. Recently eight trees have been planted at Usk Athletic Club, with the assistance of young members of the Junior Cricket Club. The work has been supported by Monmouthshire County Council's Article 21 fund.
