A new town guide for Usk has just been published, in time for the visitors and tourists who are a feature of the town in the summer months.

Many advertisers and retailers were let down when the previous publishers went into receivership, but Usk Publishing, who are the people behind the popular Usk Diary, have now taken over the task of producing a biennial guide, and have made an excellent job of it.

The brains behind Usk Publishing are Frank Evans and Penny Reeves who combine their technology and editorial skills respectively to create each piece of work.

The Guide, like the Diary, is self-funding, through advertising and Frank explained, "We are indebted to the input of Town Clerks Jenny Mee and Tracey Huxley, Cllr. Kay Peacock, Margaret Evans and Lorna Watkins, who did terrific work in finding advertisers and sponsors, because without them the Guide could not have come about."

The Guide covers all aspects of town life, as well as giving a comprehensive history, allied to a town trail for visitors to find their way around, and details of the organisations and groups that make Usk a thriving, welcoming community.

The Guide is available from a numb er of outlets throughout the town, including the Rural Life Museum in Newmarket Street and the Sessions House in Maryport Street.
