Country Walk: Usk Conservation and Environment Group i s organising a walk on Sunday August 24 in the Black Mountains area. Walkers will meet at the Queen’s Head Pub, Cwmyoy (SO311221) at 10.30am and all age groups are welcome. The leaders for this walk will be Shirley and Dave, and all walkers are asked to bring a packed lunch and wear suitable clothing for the weather conditions on the day.

Philosophy meeting: Usk Philosophy and Debating Group will b e holding its next meeting at the British Legion Club in Newmarket Street Usk on Wednesday August 27, starting at 7.30pm. The topic for debate is “How Should We Live?” Ian Millington will be leading the discussion group, looking at the works of Danish philosopher Soren Kierkegaarde and the questions of should we spend our lives in the pursuit of happiness, should be carefully consider our courses of action, or should we devote ourselves to the service of God?

Those attending the meeting do not need to have any knowledge of Kierkegaarde’s work, or even to have heard of him and there will be the opportunity for lively debate among the audience.
