The event of the week in our area was undoubtedly the funeral of 14 year old Louis Price, tragically lost in a diving accident off Berry Head in South Devon.

Fortunately the weather was kind as many people who had gathered at St Julius & Aaron Church had to follow the service outside, such was the number of relatives and friends wanted to pay their respects to Louis and support his parents, Steve and Tracey.

The crowded congregation included a selection of Louis’ young friends but the church could only accommodate a limited number.

Ryan Owen and Elizabeth Taylor spoke warmly and eloquently of their friend and Father Roger Williams praised the youngsters’ moving contribution to the impressive service.

He also praised the bravery and dignity of the parents and family, as we shared their grief and celebrated the life of their beloved Louis.

The head teachers of St Julian’s Junior and Secondary schools, David Rees and Stephen Marshall, added their heartfelt tributes and the congregation followed the vicar’s invitation to sing “All Things Bright & Beautiful” and “Amazing Grace,” as he said, “with gusto”.
