RECOGNITION OF WORK: When reporting on the Gaer Birthday bash, I gave credit to everyone except the man who keeps the whole place in pristine order.

It seems to me that some of the most hard working people in schools, leisure, and community centres are never given credit.

The Gaer is very lucky to have Roy Lane as caretaker of the community centre.

Ever cheerful and hard working he keeps the place in good working order and before, during and after the Birthday Bash he was a tower of strength in the words of the staff, and I should have given him a mention in the report. Perhaps this will make up for the omission.

GAER FRUIT AND VEG: co-op: The co-op is still going strong and the numbers of customers is on the increase.

The only drawback is in the number of volunteers to fill the bags and take the orders.

While the present staff of volunteers are coping very well at the moment.

The holiday season is upon us and we shall be struggling to keep up with the demand.

Therefore if anyone has a couple of hours to spare, please telephone 01633 666412 for more information.

DRY GOLLERS: Has anyone else noticed that the lower end of the hill has remained remarkably dry during the rainy season?

In the past, the entrance off Woods Close was always full of deep mud and the lower slope almost became a stream during heavy weather.

This week, to my surprise, I was able to walk through the gate without being ankle deep in mud.

There must be a reason for this phenomenon but it escapes me.
