DEVELOPERS are planning to create 14 flats on the site of the former Gaer Park Service Station, Newport.

The application it to erect a part two story and part three story building on the site on Bassaleg Road, and split the building into 14 units to be made up of seven two bedroom and seven one bedroom apartments.

Nine neighbours have objected to the plans because of a wide range on concerns including fears of asbestos in the roof of the current building on the site, the insufficient number of parking spaces proposed by the developer and an increase to the volume of traffic in the area.

Newport Council officers have recommended the plan be granted and the council's planning committee are set to consider the proposal at their meeting on Wednesday.
