PRAM RACE: Pill carnival committee held its meeting and all is going well. Lots of interest in this year's pram race. All you need is a wheelable pram, wheelbarrow, etc, to enter, a mum and baby/grown-up dressed as the baby.

We have a route calling in at local pubs where half-pints are drunk, and we now finish at the Millennium Centre.

Anyone is welcome to enter. First prize £50, second prize £25, plus prizes for funniest-dressed mum and baby.

We have a great day on the field at the Millennium Centre with a bouncy castle, face painting, stalls, etc, spring bank holiday, May 28.

Ring Jayne, she will give you all the details and an entry form.

CARNIVAL QUEEN COMPETITION: The Carnival Queen competition is on Sunday, June 24, at Pill Millennium Centre. Entrants must live in Newport and be aged five-18 on the day of the carnival (August bank loliday, 27).

First prize £50, runner-up £25, plus prize for all who take part on the float, four court ladies and four flower girls.

We provide a dress and crown for all the girls. Entry forms from Ann Barton, Flower Shop, 17 Commercial Road, opposite the Irish Club.
