SUMMER HOLIDAY: If summer seems a long time away, then Abertillery Musical Youth and Drama Society's latest production, Summer Holiday, will be just the ticket to cheer you up.
Based on the screenplay of 1963, made famous by Cliff Richard and The Shadows, the stage version has all the songs from the movie, plus many more added, making this a fun-packed rip-roaring musical reliving the 1960s.

The costumes will be fun too, taking us all back to the early 60s This year marks the 21st anniversary year of the society, and the first such production to take place in Abertillery's newly-refurbished Metropole Theatre.

GREEN GYM NEWS: Clive Ward has sent in the following report: "The Green Gym was busy over the weekend of January 27-28, which was the weekend of the RSPB Big Garden Bird Watch.
Initially, members carried out their own survey in a member's garden in Llanhilleth.
It was wonderful to see a large number of birds from wrens and blue tits to even a thrush and the odd raven. What do you see in your garden?
Later on, the Green Gym joined in activities at the open day at the Owl Sanctuary, where visitors were able to participate in the RSPB bird survey, as well as build bird boxes and bird feeders and enjoy the large variety of owls kept at the centre.
Like to learn more about your environment? We try to discover more about the flora and fauna in interesting ways . . . later in the season we will be looking out for spawning toads and spotting the butterflies that add much colour in the summer.
If you would like to know more about your own local environment why not join us? As well as doing light environmental work we undertake many different activities in the community, as our up and coming programme indicates.
Later next month we will be going to Slimbridge to the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust, where you will be able to observe the feeding of wildfowl that migrate large distances from the tundra of Russia to winter in our warm waters. A spectacular wonder of nature in itself!
Why not consider joining us on this or one of our other activities?
For more details, please contact Clive Ward, on 07977 103856."
