A musical evening entitled Life on the Wicked Stage will take place at the Metropole Theatre, Abertillery, on Thursday, June 21 at 7.30pm as part of the week-long Aberfest celebrations.

The show will showcase the talents of Rosie Kane, Janet Matthews, Elizabeth Tiley and young Harriet Whitehead and will also feature the youngsters of Kids-R-Us of Tredegar. West End Star Peter Karrie has agreed to come along as the special guest and will compere the show.

Peter is looking forward to visiting our newly refurbished Metropole and will be bringing his own new show there shortly after.

What a wonderful facility we now have in Abertillery.

So come along to see the show and support ABERFEST and the talented singers and dancers taking part.

Date for your diary: Six Bells Tenants & ResidentsFete will be held this year on Saturday, July 7, at Windsor Road Field, Six Bells and will be opened at 12 noon by Blaenau Gwent MP, Dai Davies.

We would like to thank Councillors Jim Watkins and Denzil Hancock for their donation of £100 towards the prizes on the day. Also to Link Cymru for its continued financial support.

Events this yearinclude the wacky obstacle course for adults and welly throwing competition, bothwith prizes of £25, £15 & £10.

The children's sports will once again berun by Bryngwyn Primary School head teacherMr Price and his pupils will be on hand to entertain us with their singing.

Blaenau Gwent Council's Active living team will also be on hand to offer bleep tests.

There will be tests at 1pm and 2pm, with prizes for the top three male and female results.

Health checks will be carried out such as body fat, blood pressure, lung function tests and information will also be available on nutrition and active living.

Circuit training taster sessions will also be held every hour at 1pm, 2pm, 3pm and 4pm.

So come along and not only enjoy a family day out but get fit and health in the process.

We will have a large number of stalls offering a variety of attractions including Guide Dogs for the Blind who will be bringing along puppies for you to see and some fully trained guide dogs.

The fire brigade will also be on hand to demonstrate how to handle a chip pan fire and will also be bringing their engine.

ABERTILLERY COMPREHENSIVE SCHOOL: The next meeting of the Friends Association is on Wednesday, June 20, at 5.45pm in the school library.

Dates for your diary: Monday, June 25, at 7pm, in the school theatre- talent show for pupils of the school.

If you are a pupil at Abertillery Comprehensive and have a particular talent see Mrs Cairns to enter the talent show.There is a £50 prize for the winning group and £25 for the winning solo entry.

Pupils are invited to come along and support their friends.

July 5, at 5.30pm- Latin/ American Music Evening in the school courtyard.Come along and enjoy some Latin American music. There will also be a barbecue, raffle and refreshments available.

The focus is the four Cs - Cleanliness, Cooking, Chilling and Cross Contamination.

Community Cooking Venues: We are in the process of compiling a directory of all venues in Blaenau Gwent suitable to host community cooking sessions.
