ABERTILLERY AND DISTRICT MUSEUM NEWS: This season's lectures begin on Wednesday, September 5 withSolemn Sabbaths and Faraway Sundays', by Pete Strong.

Lectures start at 7.00pm in the Metropole Theatre, with teas and a chat downstairs in the Museum afterwards.

Entry is £2 and the public are most welcome.

WALK OF THE DUKES: If you enjoy walking and would like to help the Hospice of the Valleys, why not enrol on this sponsored walk on Sunday, September 16.

There is a choice of either a 5 mile or 10 mile walk.The starting point is the Railway Tavern and the walk finishes at The Dukes Table, Tredegar.

ALPHA is an exciting and stimulating journey, in which you will discover how you can make the most of the rest of your life because Christianity is for everyday life.

Come and begin the journey for yourself in an easy-going relaxed way that gives you time and space to discuss the big questions - life and death and their meaning.

No question is too simple or too hostile. It is a great opportunity to listen, learn, discuss and discover together with others.

There is no charge for the Alpha course, although you may be asked to make a small donation towards running costs.

ALPHA consists of a series of talks addressing key issues relating to the Christian faith and is designed for everyone, especially: * Those wanting to investigate Christianity * New Christians * Newcomers to the church * Those who want to brush up on the basics There is a light meal together at the beginning of each session which gives you opportunity to get to know each other.

After each talk we divide into small groups to discuss the topic of the evening, ask questions and express ideas and opinions.

EBBW VALE STEEL WORKS REUNION: The reunion has been organised at Ebbw Vale Leisure Centre on Saturday, September 19, from 7pm-11.30pm.

There will be live music, a disco and buffet.
