AN APPLICATION for planning permission for an extension to the existing Llanyrafon primary school building, a project which was also to include a car park and new access road, has been withdrawn by Torfaen county borough council.

Pupils at two Torfaen schools filled 35 sacks during a litter pick in their local area. Forty two pupils from West Mon school took an hour to fill 25 sacks of litter but also filled 11 sacks with cans and bottles for recycling.

Many congratulations must go to Mike Parry of The Park, Blaenavon, for being honoured with an award from the Mayor of Torfaen, Councillor Bill King. Mike Parry was presented with his award recently at a reception at the Civic Centre, Pontypool. Mike received the honour in recognition of his many years of work at Blaenavon Workmen's Hall.

Six Bells Tenants & Residents Association are holding a litter pick on Saturday, April 26, starting at 10am from the Six Bells Community Centre. There will be a free bag of chips for all participants. We are looking for people to come and help us make Six Bells a litter free area. Equipment will be provided for the litter pick.
