Blaenavon Council of Churches: On Good Friday, March 21, a procession of silent witness will take place through Blaenavon town centre.

The procession will start at 10.50am from the top of Broad Street and proceed down to Bethlehem Court, where a service will be held at 11am.

Blaenavon Council of Churches invite all members of the community to go along and join them in this Good Friday service.

Easter at Horeb Baptist church: The following Easter details have been given to me by Mrs Pauline Whitcombe, secretary of Horeb Baptist Church, Blaenavon.

On Maundy Thursday, March 20, at the 5C's club, we will be celebrating the feast of the passover. On Good Friday, March 21, a service will be held at 6pm and everyone is welcome to come and join us. On Easter Sunday, March 23, we will be holding our morning service at 11am. At the close of the service we will take communion.

On Sunday, March 9, members of Horeb Baptist Church celebrated their 146th church anniversary. The Rev David Davies from Risca conducted the service.

After the service, everybody gathered in the schoolroom for a lunch which was provided by the members of the 5C's club. It was a very enjoyable day.

Explore Big Pit museum: IF you are visiting Big Pit National Coal Museum over the Easter period you can take part in a "Bag a Bag" event. So pick up an activity bag and explore the Big Pit Museum, there will be quizzes, games and activities aiming to help you find out more about coal and mining.

Pontypool and Blaenavon Railway: Pontypool and Blaenavon Railway are opening their running season with a 25th anniversary celebration on Saturday, March 22.

The leader of Torfaen county borough council, Councillor Bob Wellington, will be present to name a new engine "Jiwbili Arian" (Silver Jubilee). The ceremony will be taking place at 2pm.

Passengers travelling on the railway on March 22 will be given a small celebratory cake to enjoy on their journey, as part of the 25th anniversary special event.

Easter Bunny Specials: There will be Easter treats for passengers visiting the Pontypool and Blaenavon Railway at Furnace Sidings, on Sunday, March 23, and Monday, March 24.

Trains will be running from 11.30am to 4.30pm at half-hourly intervals. Adult passengers will be given an Easter egg and children will be given a special treat when they have completed an Easter quiz.

Tickets for the Easter specials are: Adults £4, and £2 for children.
