ABERBARGOED LADIES’ CHOIR: The choir concluded its summer season with an evening of Words and Music at St Peter’s church in Aberbargoed in July.

With musical director Hetty Watkins, and accompanist, Beth Dean, the choir presented a wide and varied programme of music which ranged from excerpts from  Vivaldi’s Gloria to Unchained Melody and My Heart Will Go On from the film Titanic.

Their guest soloist of the evening was the soprano, Anna Morgan, who thrilled all those present with her performance of Lisa Lan and Time to say Goodbye.

Gloria provided an opportunity for Anna and her mother, Jen Morgan to sing a duet together and they each performed a solo from the same work.

Members of the choir provided poetry and prose readings throughout the evening As a result of ticket and programme sales, the raffle and the sale of refreshments, the choir was able to present donations in excess of £100 to three good causes – Everyone’s Child, House of Joy and St Peter’s Church.

The autumn programme promises to provide a challenge for the choir with concerts in Aberbargoed, New Tredegar and St David’s Hall in Cardiff.

Rehearsals start on Monday, September 1, at St Peter’s church Aberbargoed at 7pm.

The choir is eager to recruit any sopranos and altos who would enjoy two hours of music-making in a friendly atmosphere.

A warm welcome awaits you. Phone Phillippa on 01443 812053 for further details.
