A MARSHAL had a miraculous escape during the final stage of the Tour de Yorkshire today when a team car ploughed through a traffic island they were standing on.
Footage of the incident, understood to have happened on Canal Road, Leeds as the lead riders raced towards the end of Stage 4, was posted on social media.
The video shows the team cars following riders around a right hand bend at speed. A marshal is stood in the middle of a traffic island vigorously waving a yellow flag to warn of the obstacle.

While most of the cars go either side, one vehicle ploughs straight on, forcing the marshal to leap out of the way, as shocked spectators looked on.
A Welcome to Yorkshire spokesperson told The Northern Echo: "The race organisers are holding an immediate investigation."
The marshal escaped injury, according to the organisers.
