POLICE officers stationed in Newport for the Nato Summit left St Julian's residents a note thanking them for their hospitality during the week surrounding the summit.
The officers from Hampshire Police left a handwritten note on Caerleon Road thanking locals for the 'kindness' shown to them during their time posted as part of the massive security operation surrounding the summit.
The note from the officers said: "Thank you to all the residents for your kindness, giving us freshly baked cakes, sausage rolls, cans of drink, sweets and cups of tea, all greatly appreciated.
"We will not miss standing on the roundabout for 12 hours at a time but will miss the people within the community who showed friendship and kindness during our stay."
Gwent police also published a video on Youtube to thank the public for their hospitality.
The video shows different police officers from all over the UK who have been involved in the Nato summit saying "diolch yn fawr"
