Blaenavon World Heritage site to join Olympic celebrations

BLAENAVON Ironworks will join in the Olympic celebrations.

High profile castles, palaces and industrial sites across Wales, including the Blaenavon Ironworks, will be part of a special event called Cauldrons and Furnaces.

This means historical stories will be told at Blaenavon Ironworks on June 29 and 30 between 6.30pm and 8.15pm through a series of creative and musical performances.

The project has been funded by Legacy Trust UK - an independent charity trying to create a lasting impact from the London Olympics and has been organised by the Welsh Government and the Arts Council of Wales.

Claire Williams from the project said: "The series of Cauldron and Furnaces events across Wales will be an opportunity for people to visit their local heritage sites and see the amazing talent of the young people in their local community, as well as for visitors to see Cadw sites really brought to life."

Entrance is free for the Blaenavon event and are available from head4arts.org.uk
