IT'S SAID the dream of many women is to have a fairy-tale wedding.

But for one Bettws woman, that dream has come true.

Sam Brewis, 23, had her own Cinderella-style wedding on Saturday, complete with glass slipper and Prince Charming - in the form of Lyndon Jones, 40.

The service at Bettws' St David's Church featured characters from across the world of fairy tales and Disney cartoons.

Bridesmaid Bethany D'Anne-Brown led Sam's procession into the church, dressed as Snow White and followed by six dwarves.

She carried the glass slipper - found following an Argus appeal - on a cushion , which she presented to Lyndon to place on Sam's foot at the end of the aisle.

The couple's outfits, and those for Snow White, the dwarves and the ugly sisters, were tailor-made for the event.

Friends, family and well-wishers also joined in the fun. Among the characters featured were Shrek, Robin Hood, Friar Tuck and the Incredibles, accompanied by a few American Indians.

Even the photographer came as Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean.

Afterwards the Newport couple were whisked away to Belle Vue Park for more pictures in a ex-royal fleet Daimler car.

The reception, held at The Nightingale in Bettws, was also decorated to look like a fairy tale ballroom.

The idea originally came from Sam. She said: "As a young child a fairy-tale wedding was all I wanted."

She said the wedding wasn't hard to organise: "Because I knew what I was looking for everything just fell into place."

Sam's mum Carole Brewis, who was dressed as a fairy godmother, said at first she didn't think she was serious.

"But they've pulled it off. It's gone fantastically," she added.

Reverend Canon Henry Davies, of St David's Church, led the otherwise traditional service.

"I've never seen anything like this before," he said.

Congratulations to you both...

I have to say I think it's hilarious, and looked a lot of fun... at the end of the day who cares if it's not traditional as long as the people involved love each other..... Well done!!

What an unusual story for a newspaper which is often so keen on the "negative"!! Pity about poor Aunt Connie.

What exactly is being referred to here? The nature of the wedding or the comments which have been made. A little more detail would be appreciated.
