LAST week we featured a picture of Walford Street in Newport.

Walford Street is situated of Malpas Road and next to Goodrich Crescent and Ross Lane.

This photo is of a parade in celebration of Whitsun from the early 1900s.

Comments from July 21: THE Now and Then picture is of Clarence Place.

The building on the right, once the “Clarence Potato Market”, was replaced by the Odeon cinema.

There was an earlier cinema on site, next to the ‘Ivy Bush.’ The buildings on the left were replaced by Clarence Quadrant.

The initials ECJ on the Quadrant are those of a local builder Ernest Charles Jordan.

Comments from July 14: The Now and Then Picture is of ABC Cinema which was once the Lyceum Cinema and has changed to the Travelodge Hotel.

Opposite was the TSB Bank which has now closed.

There was once a brewery.

Near by was the Queens Hotel which is also now a Wetherspoons.

A G.P.O Post Office was in the area now closed.

There are quite a few offices nearby all in the area of Bridge Street.
