MY NEPHEW, Glyn Thomas, who lives in Australia, has asked me to try to trace an old pal of his.
Glyn and his pal Ron Davies both took their apprenticeships in welding at Llanwern Steelworks in the 1970s, and I believe Glyn was named apprentice of the year at one time.
Glyn and Ron were pals for a long time, and Glyn tells me that Ron eventually joined the police and just after that moved with his wife to somewhere up the Valleys.
Glyn was living at Llanmartin at the time with his father, Wally, and stepmother, Eileen, and he then bought a house in Morden Road and moved there with his wife.
He also tells me that Ron’s in-laws lived at Llanmartin.
Glyn would dearly love to get back in touch with his friend, and if anyone can forward me information I would be very grateful.
