MARK Ring is poised for a job with the Blues after leaving Cross Keys to return to Cardiff RFC.

The 50-year-old heads back to the Arms Park, where he thrived as a centre in the 1980s on his way to earning 32 Wales caps.

It is believed that a role with Cardiff Blues is in the pipeline for Ring, who was also skills coach at the Dragons junior academy.

“We wish Ringo all the best,” said Keys head coach Greg Woods.

“It’s a great opportunity for him with a pathway to the regional set-up.

“It’s been a great four years and I’d like to think that he has learnt as much from us as we have from him. It was a great partnership and I am sure that Ringo will always remember our Swalec Cup win last season.”

Keys will not rush into a decision over a replacement with director of rugby Jonathan Westwood holding the fort along with coaches Alun Harries, Mark Prangell and Matthew J Watkins.

“We’ll take our time but it’s a great opportunity for someone to come into a stable Premiership club and I am sure we will have a lot of interest,” he said.
