CROSS Keys hooker Gerwyn Price has been snapped up by RaboDirect Pro12 title hopefuls Glasgow.

The 27-year-old from Markham will fly to Scotland on Monday to link up with the Warriors after they agreed a loan until the end of the season.

If he goes well in Glasgow then he could earn a deal to stay at the Scotstoun Stadium next season.

Price, a mobile and strong-running front row forward, recently penned a deal to remain at Keys next season but the club would not stand in his way of fulfilling his dream of becoming a professional.

In fact, there is a great deal of pride and delight at Pandy Park that the popular hooker has finally got his chance.

Price, in his second spell with the club after spending five seasons with Neath, has long been one of the outstanding players in the Premiership.

He was instrumental in Keys winning the Swalec Cup, scoring a terrific 30-metre try, and reaching the final of the British and Irish Cup last year.

But much to the shock of his coaches, a professional deal has never materialised despite Price catching the eye.

He has been closely watched by Newport Gwent Dragons and accepted an invitation to join them for pre-season (unpaid) while he was on the radar of Cardiff Blues last year only for hopes of a contract to be scuppered by a summer coaching shake-up.

Now he gets the chance to show the regions what they are missing at Glasgow, who are short of hookers while Dougie Hall and Pat MacArthur on Six Nations duty with Scotland.

If Price impresses then he could play a part in the Warriors' bid for the playoffs. They are currently second in the table – and face a clash at Rodney Parade in a fortnight.
