HOT prospect Mica Moore has started off the 2013 indoor athletics season in superb form with two personal bests.

The Newport sprinter is ranked number one in Wales and number three in the UK at under-23 level for both the 60m and 200m and she’s aiming for a place at next year’s Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Moore broke her personal best time for the 60m to win gold in 7.68 seconds at the Welsh Senior Indoor Championships in January.

This month the Cardiff Met University student has already equalled that time in an inter varsity match against Loughborough, Birmingham and Brunel Universities.

And at the same event she also set a lifetime best time of 24.69s in the 200m.

Last weekend she travelled to Sheffield to compete in the 60m at the AVIVA European Indoor Trials where she gained valuable experience against stars from UK Athletics such as Christine Ohuruogo, Ashley Nelson and Tiffany Porter.

“It’s been a good start to the year and I’m very happy with my form,” said the 20-year-old former Newport Harrier, who is now coached by her father Lawrence.

“My dad knows when to push me and it’s really great having him as my coach.

“Our main aim now is the BUCS Championships at then end of the month.”

The British Universities Indoor Championships in Sheffield take place from February 22-24 and Moore will compete at 60m and 200m.
